UPDATE: Sunday, 16 December 2007
Based on latest update on position, at Elephant Island, and with better input data, I can confirm that the move south is providing the Away Team with much more daylight. Sunrise is now about 2-30 am and sunset at 9-20 pm local time. The ship's time is 3 hours behind Edinburgh. Again, there is sleet and snow in the area and the temperature is 32 deg F (0 deg C), freezing. However, it might be a bit warmer than Edinburgh this morning with its 25 deg F!!!! You can view world daylight at _http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/sunearth.html_ (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/sunearth.html)
Bit of trivia. The ship recently passed South Orkney. Why was it so named? Favourite reason is that South Orkney is 60 deg. south of the equator whilst Orkney, Scotland, is 60 deg. north.
