Amber's Dad to Mission Control

Captain: just to update you on Amber's Birthday day. I called the ship this morning at 10-50 UK time, 07-50 on board the ship, to find everyone was already off the ship and on South Georgia doing their explorations. Understand everyone was mustered at 05-00 for an early morning briefing with Mission Control and had then used the time to make an early start. Phoned back an hour later and spoke to an Aberdonian crew member who tannoyed around the ship, "Amber Bailey to the bridge, Amber, telephone call." Amber was very surprised and wanted to know how I'd got through to the ship. The wonders of modern technology. Just like phoning someone in the next street. Weather is fine and they are all having a great time. A few have been sea sick, but Amber had missed out on this experience. Good news. They are mixing it with penguins who are all very inquisitive, but the seals chase them away. Lots of photos and video being taken. The cutest penguin has been christened Jade. Sounds like a once in a life time experience. School trips were never like this when I was 15! from Richard Bailey
