The Hon. Lady Smith writes:
This is a serious business - a ' 2 pipe problem', as Sherlock Holmes would have said. There are several international treaties which require co-operation in the detection and prosecution of criminal activity and I am confident that one of then will swing into action forthwith. I cannot, however, cause that to happen since it is an important aspect of the separation of powers that the court cannot institute prosecution. That principle is as important in the southern hemisphere as it is in the north. Once the matter is brought before the court, however, I have no doubt that the perpetrators will be severely dealt with. Penal servitude of many years on an unremitting diet of only pemmican would be a minimum, to my mind.
